Preparation:
- Ensure that the skin is clean and dry according to hospital protocols before applying Hold-A-Line.
- Important: Do not use alcohol for cleansing, as it may hinder adhesion.
Application:
- Actively warm the hydrocolloid adhesive by:Holding it between your palms for at least 60 seconds.
- Holding it near a radiant warmer for 10-15 seconds.
- Using a chemical heel warmer for 10-15 seconds.
- Discard the white paper liner and then peel off the clear plastic liner from the hydrocolloid base.
- Apply the base to the clean, dry skin, press down firmly, and hold for 60 seconds to ensure proper adhesion.
- Peel and discard the frosted liner, then carefully adhere the catheter or tube onto the base.
- Fold the flap over the catheter or tube, align it with the base, and press firmly to secure it in place.
- The flap can be lifted as needed for repositioning or removal of the catheter or tubing.
Removal:
- Replace Hold-A-Line every 5 days or as specified by hospital protocol.
- Lift the flap to gently remove the catheter or tube.
- Moisten Hold-A-Line with water or saline to facilitate easier removal.
- Slowly peel Hold-A-Line away from the skin while swabbing the area with water or saline to minimize discomfort.
- Provides secure fixation while allowing easy access for adjustments or dressing changes.
- Suitable for long-term use, offering reliability and comfort for pediatric patients.
- Minimizes the risk of skin damage commonly associated with traditional tape or adhesive products.
- Facilitates better visibility of the insertion site for ongoing assessment.
