MERIZELLE Absorbable Hemostat is a sterile absorbable knitted fabric prepared by the controlled oxidation of regenerated cellulose. MERIZELLE™ Absorbable Hemostats contains (95 – 100%) oxygenated regenerated cellulose and water (0-5 %). It is white to pale yellow in colour and has a faint, caramel-like aroma. A slight discoloration may occur with age, but this does not affect performance. Three different types of MERIZELLE absorbable hemostat are available. Merizelle™ Absorbable Hemostats are available with three different knitting patterns. MERIZELLE™ meets all the requirements for Oxidized regenerated cellulose established by United States Pharmacopeia (U.S.P.). MERIZELLE™ Woven is densely weaved structured oxidized regenerated cellulose material provides strength in the presence of heavy bleeding and is indicated to be used in general surgical procedures when ligation or other conventional methods of control are impractical or ineffective.
